Volunteers

Each family with children attending Cedars is expected to contribute 25 hours of volunteer time with the school each year. We have many opportunities that range from driving on field trips to helping with hot lunch, coaching sports teams to cleaning up around the school on our spring and fall work bee sessions.

Check below for updates on current volunteer opportunities. We also post these in the weekly news email, The Shake. Reporting your volunteer hours is no longer required.

What You Need to Volunteer

Criminal Record Check

Cedars Christian School is enrolled with the Criminal Records Review Program (CRRP) online application services. All volunteers for our school, including the Preschool, are required to apply for their Criminal Record Check (CRC) online. A CRC is required to be on file with the school before individuals can volunteer in the classroom or on field trips with students.

Below is a link to the online application. The access code is unique to our organization and will be required when you submit the online request. There is no charge for this service. You can now use your BC Services Card as Electronic Identity Verification. If you do not have a BC Services Card, please contact the school office so that we can make other arrangements for you (250-564-0707).

The results of your criminal record check will be sent to the Main Office of the school. You will be contacted by the CRRP if they are unable to process your application. A digital and paper record will be kept by the school. Once completed, the criminal record check is valid for 5 years.

Volunteer Application (and Driver Information)

Each volunteer must submit an application form (link below). If you wish to help with driving students for field trips or other events, we will need the driver information on page 2 of the application filled in. You will also need to send us your driving record (aka Driver’s Abstract) – link below.

The Volunteer Application and Driver Information forms are included as part of each year’s re-registration process. If you need an extra form, it is always available on this page.

Child Abuse and Neglect Orientation

To further protect the children and youth in our care from abuse and/or neglect, we now require all staff and volunteers who work with our students to orient themselves in the types and signs of child abuse and neglect, steps to follow in the case of student disclosures, and the duty to report.

The orientation will take approximately ten minutes. Click the button below to be taken to the orientation (opens in new tab).
