FOR ACTION

Volunteering and involvement of parents/caregivers at Cedars is a key distinctive of our school community. Although COVID-based restrictions provide challenges, we are committed to providing opportunities for our parents/caregivers to be involved in the flourishing of our school. This year’s staggered entry/dismissal and cohort breaks will require an increased number of adult supervisors. Parents/Caregivers who are willing to volunteer as a supervisor are encouraged to contact our Principal, Shane Nelson (shanen@cedars.bc.ca) directly for more information. Supervisors will need a current criminal record check, and will be given training and an on-site health and safety orientation. Classroom volunteers will be required to do the same. Unfortunately, parent drivers are not permitted under current Ministry guidance.

As independent schools, we are permitted to hire uncertified child care, educational assistants (EAs) and teachers to our on-call staff lists. We continue to pursue certified subs; however, stricter guidelines regarding “staying home when sick” will inevitably impact the number of available subs for our educational staff this year. As such, we are making an appeal to our parent/caregiver community for on-call child care / EA / Teacher applications. We also have an increased demand for our After School Care program, and are in need of a second After School Care Assistant for the 2020/21 school year. Interested persons are asked to submit a resume and statement of faith on our website Careers Page.
