Educating and equipping discerning disciples of Jesus Christ for restorative work in His kingdom
Volunteering at Cedars
Each family with children attending Cedars is expected to contribute 25 hours of volunteer time with the school each year. We have many opportunities that range from driving on field trips to helping with hot lunch, coaching sports teams to cleaning up around the school on our spring and fall work bee sessions.
Check below for updates on current volunteer opportunities. We also post these in the weekly news email, The Shake.
You can record the hours you spend volunteering right here using this handy form!

What You Need to Volunteer
Criminal Record Check
Cedars Christian School is enrolled with the Criminal Records Review Program (CRRP) online application services. All volunteers for our school, including the Preschool, are now required to apply for their Criminal Record Check (CRC) online. A CRC is required to be on file with the school before individuals can volunteer in the classroom or on field trips with students.
Below is a link to the online application. The access code is unique to our organization and will be required when you submit the online request. There is no charge for this service.

Access Code: 7SBRH2HC8Y
The results of your criminal record check will be sent to the Main Office of the school. You will be contacted by the CRRP if they are unable to process your application. A digital and paper record will be kept by the school. Once completed, the criminal record check is valid for 5 years.
Volunteer Application and Driver Information
Each volunteer must submit an application form (link below). If you wish to help with driving students for field trips or other events, we will need the driver information on page 2 of the application filled in.
These forms are included as part of each year’s re-registration process. If you need an extra form, you can download it from this page.
Please note that you will need to submit a copy of your current vehicle insurance and a Driver’s Abstract if you wish to volunteer as a driver.
You have two options to get your Driver’s Abstract to us: Online at the Driver’s Abstract Website, or call 1-800-663-3051 between 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, and ask them to fax it to the school at 250-564-0729.
Child Abuse and Neglect Orientation
To further protect the children and youth in our care from abuse and/or neglect, we now require all staff and volunteers who work with our students to orient themselves in the types and signs of child abuse and neglect, steps to follow in the case of student disclosures, and the duty to report.
The orientation will take approximately ten minutes. Click the button below to be taken to the orientation (opens in new tab).
Traditionally, our grade 11s and their parents help at our grad ceremony and banquet events – to serve the graduating class, and get a glimpse of what is in store for them in the following year. Although we can’t have our grade 11s attend this year’s events, we do need a couple of clean up crews on Friday, May 21st.
If you are able to help with ceremony clean up (6-7pm) and/or banquet clean up (9-10pm), please reach out to Mr. Nelson by phone or email. We need 5-6 persons for each crew. Venue addresses and details will be shared with interested individuals.
It would be great if some of our grade 11 students and parents step up, but we are extending the invitation to others who also may be willing!
If you are a detailed-orientated person who knows their ABC’s, the library could use some help from one or two people to re-shelve books. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Mrs. Erbacher at email@example.com for more information.
