Well, the 2019 Volleyball season has quickly come to an end and what a season it has been! Here are reports from all levels:

Grade 6/7

GIRLS: The two girls teams combined as one for the year-end Knights of Columbus Tournament at CNC. Coaches were Alannah Stoffels, Kyla Bailie and Jenevieve Wilson. Tournament award winners were Natalie Ward (Most Consistent), Jaela Erbacher (Most Sportsmanlike) and Anneke Geertsema (Most Improved).

BOYS: Cedars 2 was coached by Miranda Kynoch and Leah Paulsen and their award winners were John Bandstra (Most Sportsmanlike), Kaeden Paulsen (Most Improved) and Zach Kynoch (Most Consistent).

The highlight of the weekend was the Cedars 1 team, coached by Samantha Boudreau and Karla Crawford. They defeated Immaculate Conception to win the championship!! Their award winners were Sam Chisholm (Most Improved), Matthew Hillhouse (Most Sportsmanlike) and Derek Hempstead (Most Consistent).

Grade 8

GIRLS: Silver Medallists at the North Central District Championships!

BOYS: Silver Medallists at the North Central District Championships!

A great ending to the season for both teams! Thanks to Girls’ coaches Brooklyn Seemann, Janene Wilson and Cassidy Wilson and Boys’ coach Mark Vevojda.

Junior

GIRLS: Cedars Blue: Coaches – Krystal Rempel and Heather Wilson. Finished 4th overall out of 14 teams at North Central District Championships

Cedars Grey : Coach – Michelle Karpenko. Finished 6th overall at North Central District Championships.

BOYS: Coaches – Frank Crosina and Jeff Pudlas. Silver medallists at the North Central Zone Championships and qualified for Provincials for the second year in a row.

Senior

GIRLS: Coaches – Jeff Ludditt and Deb Taylor. Captured their 10th straight North Central Senior A Zone Championship and qualified for Provincials this weekend in Castlegar. All-stars were Regan Faller and Maillee Taylor and the zone tournament MVP was Hailey Gilkerson.

BOYS: Coaches – Roland Rempel and Frank Crosina. Won the North Central Senior A Zone Championship led by All-stars Lucas Crosina, Evan Tiefensee and Tournament MVP Josh Leboe. Finished 8th overall at Provincials where Evan Tiefensee was selected as a tournament all-star!

Overall a very successful season of volleyball at Cedars with lots of players and a bright future for continued success!
