Volleyball Updates from Last Weekend
This past weekend, the Senior Girls Volleyball team came away with the bronze medal at the PGSS tournament! According to Coach Ludditt, it was the first time in many years that a senior girls team from Cedars medaled in a city tournament. It was a great team effort as the girls defeated PGSS and then perennially strong STKR in the bronze medal match. Coach Ludditt singled out Bella Milton for her stellar play as arguably one of the strongest liberos in the city if not the entire province!
The Senior Boys Volleyball team placed an excellent 9th out of 32 teams at the TRU Howler this past weekend. Their overall record was 5-2 with the two losses coming against ‘AA’ powerhouses Abbotsford Christian and MEI. Along the way, the boys defeated rivals Kelowna Christian and Vernon Christian, solidifying their ranking as the top ‘A’ team in BC. This bodes well as they prepare for Zones this weekend and then Provincials in 3 weeks!
The Junior A Boys Volleyball team completed their season with their own Zone tournament at CHSS. While they did not finish as high as they would have liked, Coach Noah Podolski reminded them that all season they were up against very strong teams of almost entirely Grade 10 players. Thanks for a good season, boys, and thank you to Coach Podolski and staff sponsors, Krista Claus and Sarah Darragh!
