Town Hall Meeting – March 14th
The Cedars Christian School Board and Administration Team invite all Cedars current and alumni community members and friends to participate in our Town Hall Meeting on March 14th in the Cedars’ foyer.
At 6:30pm, the Board will present and walk society members through a draft of our new Constitution and Bylaws that will be voted on at our Spring AGM in May. All charitable organizations in BC are required to have a Constitution and Bylaws document that complies with the new Societies Act completed and filed prior to November 2018.
Following this presentation, Dave Rowland, our Director of Community Engagement, will lead participants through a discussion protocol that will gather important community feedback for the Board in the development of our next Five-Year Strategic Plan. To open this discussion, Interim Principal Shane Nelson, will share a brief “report card” of progress made on our previous Five-Year Plan. Although we have set aside two hours for this discussion (7-9pm), we would ask participants to consider the following prompts ahead of time:
Mission: “Educating and equipping discerning disciples for restorative work in His kingdom”
- With our mission in mind, what is the best of Cedars? Or, what does Cedars do best?
- With our mission in mind, what areas need improving?
- What could our school look like in 5-10 years? What are your hopes and dreams for this community in terms of relationships, educational programs, facilities, sports programs, electives, communication, raising funds, etc.?
- What would you identify as Cedars’ core values? What are the values to which you would like Cedars’ to aspire?
It is very important to the Board and Administration to hear from you on this evening. The feedback from this evening – in addition to surveys, focus group and individual conversations – is crucial information for the Board’s discerning work at their strategic planning retreat in June. If you are unable to attend, please keep your eyes and ears open for subsequent opportunities to share your feedback; however, do not hesitate to drop by and speak with Dave or Shane.
We would appreciate it if you would let us know that you are planning on attending this meeting. Please RSVP using the form below.
