Principal’s Update & Tonight’s Town Hall Information

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Less than a week to our 2020/21 school restart! We are looking forward to seeing you and your children in-person on Tuesday. All parents/caregivers are invited to tune into our virtual Town Hall event this evening at 7pm to hear and ask questions regarding our Restart Plan and Health & Safety Plan. The virtual Zoom meeting connection information is listed in The Cedars Shake email sent out today.

Some updates have been made to the Health & Safety Plan we shared last Wednesday. Links to revised plans can be found on our Cedars’ Home Page.

Elementary and High School Week One Schedule

Tuesday through Friday Mornings:
8:10am-8:25am Staggered Drop-Off, children go straight to classrooms

Tuesday Afternoon:
11:30am – 11:50am All-School Staggered Dismissal

Wednesday Afternoon:
1:30pm – 1:50pm All-School Staggered Dismissal

Thursday and Friday Afternoon:
2:55pm – 3:15pm All-School Staggered Dismissal

Preschool Orientation

New Preschool parents are invited to attend an orientation at the preschool on Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 7:30pm-8:30pm. The preschool is located at the Evangelical Free Church at 4590 5th Avenue.

Recurring Payment Set-Up

Recurring tuition payments are required and need to be set up each year. Please call or email the business office (businessoffice@cedars.bc.ca) to set up payments on a credit card or on a debit card with a visa/mastercard option. Payments may also set up via Pre Authorized Debit (pdf). If you have any questions, please call Karen in the business office.

1:1 Technology Plan – High School Student Expectations

As we have communicated over the past couple of weeks, Chromebooks will be issued to grade 4-7 students with an annual $50 technology fee. Each high school student, however, will need to bring their own device or sign-up for our rent-to-own program. We still have about 10 laptops in stock to issue to students who have paid their first installment ahead of time. Mr. Nelson will meet with individual student users for a quick orientation on their new machine in the first week of classes.

Welcome Back Event – Friday, September 11

At the end of next week (Friday, Sept. 11), we would like to invite families to an on-site Welcome Back event between 5:30-7:30pm. In four, half-hour windows, we will have small groups of families pick up a dessert, have short meet-and-greet conversations with teachers, and do a walk-through of our new building. RSVP is required for this event. Please call or email the office to sign-up your family before 4pm on Wednesday, September 9th. First come, first served! Limited spaces available!
