This Fall, the Ministry of Education and Child Care set aside $60 million, provincially, toward a Student and Family Affordability Fund. Based on the demographics of each school district, funds have been allocated to districts and independent schools to distribute on behalf of the Ministry.

Based on an internal and confidential rubric we have developed, some families have been identified to receive some help with back-to-school costs such as: food, fuel, clothing, and other school expenses. These Ministry funds are allocated to families in the form of gift cards to be used at their discretion.
