We have invited Althea Matias, from Advokate / Hope for Women in the Lower Mainland to come to Cedars to do SHIFT (Sexual Health & Intimacy For Teens) presentations with staff, parents, and grade 7-12 students. Prior to student presentations on March 12th, we will have Althea share her material with parents and provide a time for Q&A. Parents of grade 7-12 students are strongly encouraged to attend this presentation at 7pm on Wednesday, March 11th – but it is open to all parents. Topics include: reproductive system basics, stages of pregnancy, sexual integrity – emphasizing abstinence and personal responsibility, STIs, safe and healthy relationships, consent, adoption, abortion and parenting.
Advocate / Hope for Women will be opening up a new centre in Prince George this Spring. We are pleased to make an early connection with this organization, and bring awareness of its services to our students, staff, and parent community.
