The health and safety of our staff and students is of primary importance in our work at Cedars. The revised Health and Safety Plan linked below has been reviewed by our staff and Health and Safety Committee, and approved by the Ministry of Education and Board of Directors. The overall message of “Give SPACE – CLEAN with Care” continues to be the key message in our health and safety protocols; however, there are some significant changes that students and parents/caregivers will need to review and process ahead of our restart.
The two most significant changes to our “infection prevention and exposure control measures” are the introduction of cohorts for K-12 students and staff, and the implementation of masks for high school students, cross-cohort staff, and visitors/volunteers.
- K-12 students will be spending most of their learning and break times with cohorts of 60 (elementary) and 75 (high school) persons to reduce the overall number and type of contacts on our campus.
- High school students and staff will be required to wear a non-medical mask in high traffic and common areas (hallways), and in cross-cohort settings where physical distancing cannot be maintained.
- Visitors and volunteers will be required to follow spacing and cleaning protocols, wear a mask, and sign-in at the main office for emergency and contact tracing purposes.
The school will supply all staff and high school students with two reusable masks. Masks will be provided to elementary students and visitors upon request (by parent or student). Information on types, cleaning and care of masks can be found on the BC CDC website. Respect will be shown to those who choose to wear a non-medical mask, and to those who cannot wear a mask for medical reasons. Parents/Caregivers are asked to contact Shane Nelson, our school Principal, directly to request medical exemptions.Health and Safety Plan
