Following August 3, 2021 federal announcements regarding a National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, our Province has adjusted K-12 school instructional hours to provide space for a non-instructional day on Thursday, September 30th. As such, there will be no classes for K-12 students at Cedars on this day. Please mark your calendars accordingly.
Further to our announcement in the Spring, we are planning a number of learning experiences related to Truth and Reconciliation throughout this week – culminating in an Indigenous Cultural Day on Friday, October 1st.
We will provide more details and resources to students and families in the coming weeks. Thank you to those who have responded to our invitation to be involved and lend their voice to our overall school response to national Truth and Reconciliation calls to action. We have set our first Indigenous Advisory meeting for Thursday, September 16 at 7pm. If you are interested in being part of this advisory group, please reach out to our elementary Vice Principal, Mrs. Andrea Posada, or Teacher-Librarian, Mrs. Jamie Erbacher. An agenda for this meeting will be shared in advance with interested individuals.
