Principal’s Update Oct. 1, 2021
This morning, the Public Health Officer and Education Minister announced the expansion of the school mask mandate to include K-3 students. Beginning on Monday, October 4, 2021 all K-12 students and staff will be required to wear masks while indoors at school and on school buses.
The Provincial COVID-19 Communicable Disease Guidelines for K-12 Settings referenced in our school’s Health and Safety Plan has been updated to reflect this announcement. There continues to be exceptions for staff, students, and visitors in the circumstances outlined on p.19 of the Provincial Guidelines linked above. Mask exemptions must be claimed in writing (shanen@cedars.bc.ca) through our school Principal, Shane Nelson.
Although Primary teachers will take some time to review proper use of masks with their students, we ask that parents / caregivers to speak with their children about this change in school practice prior to their return to school on Monday.
Students, staff and visitors are encouraged to bring their own reusable mask for use at school. A box of disposable masks will be available in Primary classrooms for those who forget or misplace their own.
If you have any questions or concerns, please direct them to our school Principal.
