On Friday, March 14th, our team leaves for Tegucigalpa, Honduras to continue building relationships and our ongoing partnership with Jericho Ministries. We will be driving to Calgary and then flying out Saturday morning. As you could imagine there is a sense of excitement in the team as the months of preparing and fundraising come to an end and the real adventure begins. The team is led this year by Mr. Lewis and Mrs. Young, with team members Alyse Willmann, Sarah Hein, Sol Goudsward, Aimee Bumbee and Shannon Kragt (gr12) and Mariah Sherman, Juliana Bergstrom and Cassidy Enns (gr10).

The team will be doing some breaking ground for planting on the land at Jericho’s rehabilitation center, La Villa  We will also be serving the many new children at the school at their annual student retreat. We will play games, sing, talk about Jesus, and pray for the kids as we wash their feet. Another highlight will be taking the kids to the Science Center in Tegucigalpa, a spa day for the girls and shopping together.

Please be praying for our team and our families, that God would have His way in us and that our hearts would grow closely knit to Him through this experience of service. May the team serve with heart, mind body, and strength, and grow together as one body. We ask you to pray for protection during our travels and favor as we go through customs and ride the roads of Honduras. Pray that we may be a blessing to the ministry and also be blessed through the stories of trials, faith and victory we will hear from the children. Please pray that we would have teachable spirits and that we would return with something new to bring to the Cedars family. Also pray for the families of the team members, that they would have peace as their loved ones leave for ten days.

We have a blog set up on the Cedars website that we will try to update on a daily basis while we are away. Please be reading it and send us feedback and words of encouragement to the team.

Again this would not be possible without the support of you, the Cedars community. We sincerely thank you all for your support through our fundraisers and events. We raised over $400 per student towards trip costs from bottle drives, cupcakes, the PAC fun day, our Menchies weekend and private offerings. We go as a team representing an entire community, and our prayer is that we serve God, Cedars, and Jericho Ministries to the best of our ability. In keeping with the spirit of community, you are all invited to attend our team commissioning event on Tuesday, March 11 at 8:30am in the Cedars foyer.

God Bless,
