Celebration of the Arts
We have been blessed with a number of events this year that have highlighted our strong arts program at Cedars. Our elementary students and staff put on another wonderful Christmas musical; our high school drama classes performed their “After Hours” play, Shakespeare and monologue selections. Last weekend, our high school band trained and performed with Westside Academy in our 2nd Annual Band Winterlude. We continue to be amazed by the talented actors, musicians and artists in our midst!
Some of the events that we put on involve booking venues, purchasing costumes/props and scripts. To ensure these costs were covered, we typically charge for our high school drama events. However, due to the large number of guests at this years’ events, we more than covered our expenses. After some discussion, we have decided to put excess funds toward graduation awards that recognize a student’s “contribution to the arts” (drama, music, art) during their time at Cedars. This year, we are pleased to initiate a $500 scholarship for one of our graduates!
