In an effort to take our school theme to heart this year, the Grade 7 class has worked to develop a deeper understanding of what it means to be “Built with a Purpose” by closely examining and practicing Cedars’ ROCK acronym: Respect, Ownership, Community, Kindness. When asked what their biggest take away was the students reflected on what it means to walk purposefully and build their faith upon the ROCK:

Respect: “I think that respect is one of the most important things in the world, because it reflects on how serious you are about your relationship with God.”

Ownership: “Taking Ownership looks like taking responsibility for your actions”

Community: “We can build community by picking up garbage, gardening, helping others, and even helping the poor can help build community”

Kind: “We can build community, and be kind by doing what God would do, mirroring that kindness, while being yourself and acknowledging others for who they are.”

We learned that we are indeed God’s building as it says in 1 Corinthians 3:9, and it is important that we build this foundation not only upon the ROCK at Cedars, but also on the rock of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
