Basketball Zones are over…on to Provincials!

The Senior Boys 1A Zones tournament was hosted by Cedars this past weekend and for the fourth year in a row Cedars Eagles emerged as the North Central Zone champions!! They went undefeated through the tournament, beating MacKenzie, Tumbler Ridge, and Fort St. James to face McBride in a rather exciting gold medal game. Down at the half, the boys regrouped and led by Tournament MVP Ryan C. and All-stars Cole S. and Kaeden P. they emerged with a 61-46 victory. They now switch gears and prepare for the 1A Provincial Championships next week at the Langley Event Centre! Their games will be live-streamed so stay tuned in next week’s Shake for the schedule and link so you can watch and cheer the boys on.

Speaking of Provincials, our Senior Girls team is competing in the 1A Championships this week also at the Langley Event Centre. As the #8 seed their first game was this morning against #9 Charles Bloom and we won 60-46! They play #1 ranked Pacific Christian Thursday at 1:45 PM. We will post their game times on our Cedars facebook page. Unfortunately, to watch the games comes with a fee of $8.00/day once you set up an account with the provider. Here is the link to watch those games:

Finally the Junior Boys completed their very successful season as the silver medalists of the Junior B Boys Districts held at DP Todd this past weekend. They came away with an exciting victory over College Heights in the semifinal but came up short versus a strong Duchess Park team in the final. Mbondi R. was selected as Cedars Tournament MVP for his strong defensive play coupled with some clutch shooting, especially against College Heights. Congratulations boys on a great season! And thanks to coaches Caleb Wilson, Karl Kibonge and Ben Wolitski for leading and mentoring this team.
