Alumni Volleyball was a Huge Success!

The gym was packed and everyone was treated to a great day of volleyball as 33 Cedars Eagles volleyball alumni returned to take on our Senior Girls and Boys teams.

The girls match kicked it off and after both teams traded wins in the first two sets, the Alumni team prevailed in sets 3 and 4 to take the match 3-1. Led by Players of the Game Tammy Bluemink (class of 1999) and Ashleigh (Rempel) McCabe (2018), the alumni showed that experience can triumph over youthfulness!

The guys’ matches took on a different twist as there were 22 alumni ready to take on our Senior Boys so they were divided into two teams. They then played two-set total points matches against each other. While it made for a longer day, we were treated to some amazing plays by every team and when the dust settled the Cedars Senior Boys came out on top with a 3-1 record and a +23 in points. Second was the “Older” Alumni team also with a 3-1 record but only a +7 point differential while playing gallantly the “Younger” Alumni team finished third.

Players of the game were: Cedars Eagles – Sam Nelson and Carter Ceaser; “Older” Alumni – Carter Karpenko and Caleb Plouffe (2018); “Younger” Alumni – John Jeong (2023) and Jonathan Bonnett (2000).

All in all, it was a great day to watch and cheer, sometimes in awe, as we were treated to some vintage volleyball! Thanks to all who came out to make it a memorable event!

We’ll post some pictures on our Cedars Updates Facebook page soon!
